The new 7th generation iPod Nano... It does the same things that it's always done. I truly believe Apple has no idea where to go with this device. They have gone from having a camera to no camera, to being a watch to having a bigger touch screen, and that is where we are at now in 2012 with the Nano. I have had the opportunity to play around with the iPod Nano and I have a review for you all.
Features:
Design
The new Nano is just 5.5 mm thin and weighs a super-light 31 grams. When you hold it in your hand, you would think it is a feather. Being so small, it fits great in your pocket and a joy to use for running or athletics.
2.5" Multi-touch screen
When Apple launched the 6th generation, watch type Nano, they introduced multi-touch for the very first time on this device. This year, it still has that touch capability, however this time it has a 2.5" display and has a home button. Yes, the iPod nano, got a home button. The display has a 240 by 432 resolution. The screen works well for navigating through your music or your photos and videos. Being so small, it almost feels like a super-mini iPod Touch.
Bluetooth 4.0
One feature that is a great addition to the new is the inclusion of Bluetooth 4.0 technology. This way, people with wireless headphones or other compatible accessories will be able to use the on this device for the first time.
Performance
The Battery life on the Nano is pretty good. It can play music for up to 30 hours and 3.5 hours for video playback. This Nano also features Apple's new Lightning dock connector, replacing the old 30-pin. It is much smaller and is found on the bottom right of the device. It also has a built in accelerometer.
Software
So with a touch-screen and tappable stock apps, you bust be thinking the Nano now runs iOS. Well you are wrong! No, it doesn't run iOS but it has its own customized OS to power the UI. The Nano's apps are round circle icons instead of square boxes on Apple's other devices, and even the home button is a round circle. This kind of shows that it runs its own software. The nano features its usual FM Radio which is great because its the only device by Apple that actually has one.
Configurations
This new Nano comes in eight colours: blue, grey, black, yellow, purple, green and pink. It also comes in a Product (RED) version. For storage, it comes in one standard 16GB capacity and is priced at $149.99.
My Thoughts
The iPod Nano 7th generation is a small and lightweight device that is great if for listening to music or Radio. It is super easy to use and everything about is very straightforward. It holds 16GB of content for all your favorite music, photos or even videos. The inclusion of Bluetooth 4.0 is also a great feature and in general, the iPod Nano is a great portable music player.
